Breckenridge is one of the best places to be in the fall. The leaves change color and our festivals are some of the best around. You can hoist a beer stein, mountain bike through golden aspen trees, taste some of the best wine, watch amazing indie films, or one of our favorites, visit stunning homes decorated beautifully! Make sure to dress in layers though – it can be 70 degrees and sunny, or we might get our first snowstorm of the season … you just never know. Breckenridge is a beautiful place to visit in any season, but it is especially lovely in the fall. Come and enjoy one of the 5 great experiences below!

Fall is coming to Summit County and what better way to celebrate than to share my top 5 favorite hikes in the area! Cooler weather, smaller crowds, and the changing color of our infamous aspen trees provide pristine hiking conditions in Summit County during the fall. Be sure to bring layers on any hike this fall because temperatures can rapidly drop at higher elevations. “The pride and joy of Summit County” as some call it, the Dillon Reservoir is the seventh largest body of water in the state of Colorado. Located on the north side of the Dillon Reservoir, the town of Dillon has moved numerous times since it was first established in 1859. The town came to be when gold was discovered at the headwaters of the Blue River. The Dillon Dam and Reservoir we see today was only finished in the early 1960s and was created to provide freshwater to parts of the Denver area. This man made lake provides water to hundreds of thousands of people and entertainment to Summit County residents and visitors each day. (more…)

There’s no denying that if you’re looking for some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the country, you’ll find it in the mountains of Summit County, Colorado. Well over a million skiers come every year to enjoy the world-class terrain at Breckenridge, and Copper Mountain hosts the USASA National Championship, which is the largest snowboarding and freeskiing competition in the world. Not to mention Keystone Mountain’s incredible tree-skiing options and family-friendly atmosphere, all three of these mountains are a true skier’s paradise. (more…)
