Breckenridge is one of the best places to be in the fall. The leaves change color and our festivals are some of the best around. You can hoist a beer stein, mountain bike through golden aspen trees, taste some of the best wine, watch amazing indie films, or one of our favorites, visit stunning homes decorated beautifully! Make sure to dress in layers though – it can be 70 degrees and sunny, or we might get our first snowstorm of the season … you just never know. Breckenridge is a beautiful place to visit in any season, but it is especially lovely in the fall. Come and enjoy one of the 5 great experiences below!

Leaf Peeping Scenic Drives – The middle of September through early October

This is one of our favorite seasons in Breckenridge – the Fall spectacle when the sun is shining, the leaves are golden and fluttering, and the views are spectacular. We re-posted this article from the Summit Daily on our Facebook page recommending 6 drives near Breckenridge for great aspen leaf viewing. The higher the altitude, the earlier the leaves change color, but we recommend searching your favorite location by hashtag on Instagram and then sorting the images by most recent post to see the current state of the leaves in your location of choice. For example, on Instagram use the search bar and type in #boreaspass, then click on Recent and note the images by how long ago they were posted to see what’s happening up there. And of course, post using the same hashtag when you make the trek so you can share the love!

Oktoberfest 2022 – September 23-25th

One of the best beer festivals around, this Main Street extravaganza is BACK after a couple of Covid stumbles, and it’s back better than ever. This 3-day celebration on Main Street in historic downtown Breckenridge is now one of the most iconic favorite events of the year. This 26th annual festival mixes our favorite Oktoberfest traditions including collectible steins, local beer from the Breckenridge Brewery, music from groups including Those Austrian Guys, dancing, costumes, pretzels, bratwurst, and loads of fun!

Summit County, Colorado Parade of Homes-For two weekends September 17-18th & 24-25th

This is a major fundraiser for The Summit Foundation, that does amazing work locally providing funds for those who need a hand up locally. The parade of homes is presented by the Summit County Builders Association and sponsored by several of our local designers, home improvement companies, materials providers, and finance companies. There are 3 beautiful homes in Breckenridge featured on the parade – we’re especially intrigued with the 1028 Discovery Hill property in Breck that features 5 bedrooms, 7 baths with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Breckenridge Golf Course and the 10-mile range. We always enjoy the clever built-ins, the beautiful decorating, and the chance to get a feel for the local homes, whether within or outside our price range!

Breckenridge Wine Classic – September 15-17th

Wine lovers and winemakers from around the globe get together in Breckenridge annually for the Breckenridge Wine Classic. With the Peak 9 mountain as a backdrop, the beauty of an autumn Breck day is enhanced while sipping on the delicious flavors of wines from around the world. Layer in concert music and yummy small bites to add to the lively and fun atmosphere of this fall wine festival. We especially like the Grand Tasting at the base of Beaver Run Resort on Friday or Saturday – this is a way to taste everything or choose your favorite varietal and stay with that while comparing the notes of fruit, flower, and earth flavors.

2022 Breck Film Fest’s 42nd Year – September 15-18th

Celebrating the 42nd film festival this September in Breckenridge, this year begins a new chapter for Breck Film as the fest comes out on the other side of the pandemic, welcomes a new Executive Director, and has more intriguing film submissions than ever. The weekend includes 100 films across multiple local venues, some free kids events, and great parties each and every night! Go online to watch the trailers, doll up for the Opening Night party at Kenosha Steakhouse and choose from the most amazing line up of insightful, interesting, great storytelling films. We’re especially intrigued with the Animated Short Films lineup on Sunday, September 18th at 5:30 PM.

So, there you have our favorite picks for the very best of a Breckenridge fall! Our small-town mining history, arts and music culture, and historic feel gets even better when the air feels crisp and the leaves turn golden yellow. Hiking amongst the aspen, letting the beer and wine flow, taking photos of all the beauty, and of course enjoying some world-class films and beautiful homes are all on our agenda for the month of September!

If you’d like to come up and take a peep at some potential homes of your own for a move to Breckenridge, reach out to me and we’ll set up some showings. The time couldn’t be better!
